Join us for a hands-on Winter Sowing workshop and discover the magic of growing plants outdoors during the cold months! Participants will learn everything there is to know about winter sowing—from selecting seeds and preparing containers to caring for them throughout the winter. You’ll explore the science behind this low-cost, sustainable gardening method and learn tips for successful spring growth. Each participant will leave the class with their very own milk jug of sown seeds, ready to watch nature work its magic and enjoy the satisfaction of nurturing plants from seed to bloom.
The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
