Tired of those drab, store-brought pencil pouches with no pizzazz? Have you always wanted to make one of your own to show you can hang with the best of the fashion designers? Fret no more and come learn how to make one with us! Elaine Luther will guide you through all of the sewing basics, such as threading and getting your sewing machine going, as well as teaching some historically intimidating techniques like working with zippers. You'll be ready to take on your project in no time!

We'll provide a variety of fabric and materials, so your pencil pouch can be as unique as you! Spaces are limited; pre-registration is required.

Registration opens Saturday, May 30th at 11am.

The 1501 Ellinwood Street library building is the realization of a longheld dream of the library board, staff and community partners. Located in the heart of downtown Des Plaines, the four story, 82,000 square foot building represents the community's commitment to reading, lifelong learning, and a center for family activities. A grand central staircase and large windows provide a wealth of natural light and illuminate the building at night.
